It is an individual's responsibility to help stop or prevent genocide.

The failures of governments, international institutions and the world's political elite to act and popular efforts to compel them to do the right thing leave no alternative.

We, the world's citizens, its ordinary mismatched individuals, take that responsibility and pledge to find non-governmental solutions to the mass killing of our fellow citizens, who are ordinary individuals like us.

And by our humanity we will.

What we are doing

Our Humanity in the Balance is an international group of volunteers developing innovative strategies to protect civilian populations in conflict areas, beginning in Darfur. We also intend to partner, where and when possible, with community groups in those areas to leverage our efforts. Though Darfur is the focus of our pilot programs, we intend to prove that our strategies can be replicated elsewhere.
